Covid-19: Do not recommend

Last week, I tested positive for a breakthrough case of Covid-19. Today marks my first day out of a 10-day quarantine.

I honestly would not have even thought to take a test had I not been exposed to someone who tested positive. Thankfully, my symptoms were between non-existent and mild – sore throat, occasionally coughed for a few days. Those disappeared quickly.

I didn’t die or get admitted to the hospital, so this obviously could have gone worse. On the other hand, I basically stayed in my basement for a week and a half. I kept my distance from everyone in my orbit.

It wasn’t fun. More than that, though, when you combine that experience with the stress and frustrations of the small-but-not-insignificant sacrifices wrought by this pandemic… Well, we don’t have to stay in this miserable loop.

Please get vaccinated if you haven’t already. Also, here’s some information on rapid testing. We need to start taking advantage of this inexpensive, effective technology to curb the spread of Covid-19. Call your representatives in Congress about getting lower-cost rapid tests to market.

Everyone is exhausted by this virus. Please, let’s just do what it takes to move on.
